I check my web site data frequently, and remove sites that I do not wish to have storing data on my IMac. I simply cannot get rid of roomkey.com no matter what I do! ![]() I have cleared the caches, and moved all the items in my Local Storage folder to the Trash, time and time again. I've tried doing these steps before I open Safari, after I open Safari, and before I close Safari. I've tried restarting my IMac after doing these steps. No matter what I do, every time, roomkey.com is back - cookies, cache and Local Storage. It really bothers me that there are sites lurking on my computer that I can't get rid of no matter what I do. If roomkey.com can live in my IMac somewhere, what's to stop hackers, etc.? If there is a way to get rid of this stuff, I'd be grateful for any help anyone can give me. CMA wrote: Great. Now I can't trust the Apple App Store? Unfortunately not. Lost planet 3 reviews. You can clear the board at your own pace, or race against the clock. If you search for 'adware' or 'antivirus' on the Mac App Store, most of what you find will be scams. They're thinly-veiled scams that put on an appearance of legitimacy, so Apple seems reluctant to do anything about them. But they're still scams. Many of them pretend to remove adware or malware, and they appear to be effective by simply removing browser extensions and resetting as many browser settings as they can. In some cases, that solves the problem and makes it appear that they are actually scanning for threats when they really aren't. There are a few legitimate apps mixed in there, but it's important to note that any anti-virus or anti-adware app in the Mac App Store will be handicapped by sandboxing, and will not be able to detect or remove threats from many places on the system. If you're looking for a simple anti-virus to use to scan files for Windows malware before forwarding them on to others, some of those may be an effective solution for that purpose.
